UNIO AMJ MUN -15.11.2024 & 16.11.2024
The first edition of UNIO AM Jain Model United Nations was a remarkable success, hosting around 200 delegates and faculty advisors from schools across the tri-district area. Over November 15-16, 2024, participants engaged in dialogue across eight committees, from historical crises to futuristic agendas, guided by an outstanding Executive Board.
The opening ceremony featured Sri Satchitananda Valan Michael, Head of UNHCR Chennai Field Office, who inspired youth to embrace "active citizenship." Director Dr. Maheshwari Natarajan, Director General Varsha Ranganathan and Secretary-General Santhosh Sivakumar also addressed the gathering; the conference opened with the gavelling ceremony. Day 1 saw three committee sessions buzzing with debate, crisis updates, and classical cultural performances, providing an exhilarating experience to all participants.
On Day 2, delegates focused on finalizing resolutions, presenting actionable solutions for global issues. The valediction featured Dr. Josika Navukkarasu, Chief Surgeon at Besant Memorial who highlighted empathy's role in resolving conflicts. The event culminated with over 80 awards, including two delegation prizes, recognizing exceptional talent, ending with the passionate address of Principal Ms. Jayashree Venkatraman, gratitude remarks of the Conference Executive Revanth H and the ungavelling by the Secretary-General.
The conference concluded with a social event at Gyan Bhavan, featuring music, dance, and interactive games, embodying the theme Concordia Diversitate—Unity in Diversity. UNIO AMJMUN 2024 set a high standard and benchmark for future editions, fostering diplomacy, leadership, and unity among young minds.
